Investigating and prosecuting human trafficking cases are complex and require techniques that carefully balance public safety with the rights of victim-survivors. The commercial sex ecosystem thrives on an unrelenting demand which fuels the supply and ultimately leads to the prolific distribution of victims. This conference will explore advanced human trafficking investigation and prosecution skills, which will aid in successful investigations and ultimately convictions.

IMRAN ALI
Director, Law Enforcement Education & Training

Imran Ali is an attorney and the Director of Law Enforcement Education and Training for Eckberg Lammers. After serving over seventeen years as a felony-level prosecutor in the state of Minnesota, his extensive experience is recognized both in the courtroom and community. Imran has prosecuted some of the most complex cases in Minnesota. Working with victims of crime has provided Imran with the passion needed to succeed in the courtroom. He has developed law enforcement training programs that employ participates to serve their communities with honor and integrity while being equipped with the appropriate tools in decision-making. Imran has presented at prosecution and law enforcement conferences nationwide.

AIMEE SCHROEDER
Criminal Analyst, Distinquished LETAC Faculty

Aimee has spent over a decade working in both private and public practice, focusing on analytical services. Aimee was the lead analyst for the East Metro Human Trafficking Task Force, the first in the state of Minnesota. She worked with both prosecution and law enforcement by proactively identifying subjects of criminal investigations, preparing large, complex criminal cases for trial, and providing digital forensic services for law enforcement by analyzing cell phone and computer forensics. Aimee understands the difference between relevant exculpatory and inculpatory evidence, making her one of the only attorney-trained analysts in the state of Minnesota. In 2016, Aimee received the Minnesota Tri-County Analyst of the Year award for her work as a criminal intelligence analyst and Minnesota Lawyers Unsung Legal Hero in 2019. Aimee also provides training and education for prosecutors, governmental officials, and law enforcement all over the United States, through Law Enforcement Training Academy & Consulting services.

ALISON PHILLIPS
Consultant and Co-Founder of Human Trafficking Training Center (HTTC)

Alison Phillips is a consultant and co-founder of HTTC. Previously, she served as the Director of the Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. As task force director, Alison built a strong, engaged multi-disciplinary team that conducted proactive operations, trained thousands of law enforcement and health care professionals, and implemented strategic initiatives such as “The Hope Initiative” which resulted in the closure of 40% of the state’s illicit massage businesses and became a national model. Alison has written her own curriculum on human trafficking for undergraduate, criminal justice majors while working as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Missouri in Kansas City (UMKC) and at Mid-America Nazarene University (MNU). In sum, Alison has nearly a decade of experience in counter human trafficking work, through advocating and mentoring survivors, in consultancy, event planning, coalition building, providing trainings, public speaking (including her own Ted Talk) and community engagement.

DAN NASH
Consultant and Co-Founder of Human Trafficking Training Center (HTTC)

Dan Nash is the co-founder of the HTTC and a retired Missouri State Trooper where he spent 27 years investigating human trafficking, narcotics and vice, homicide and other violent crimes. He was the Sergeant of the Human Trafficking Unit at the State Patrol and the enforcement supervisor of the Missouri Attorney General’s Office Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force. Dan has taught thousands of law enforcement officers throughout the United States and in various industries including casinos, fire fighters, victim advocacy, health care and trucking. Dan has also been active in both teaching and working alongside nationwide non-profits.Dan created the Special Victims Methodology for investigating human trafficking cases which is being used by many law enforcement agencies. He has spoken at many conferences on human trafficking and has been passionate about improving the anti-trafficking program within law enforcement and the community since 2011.

PAUL KROSHUS
Woodbury Police Detective, Distinguished LETAC Faculty

A 20 year veteran of the Woodbury Police Department in Minnesota, Paul Kroshus has experience with investigation techniques for various types of crime. Over the last six years, his focus has been on investigating high-risk victim crimes, juvenile exploitation, sex trafficking, and labor trafficking investigations. Including training law enforcement on reactive and proactive sex trafficking investigative techniques, organized crime, hotel interdiction, illicit massage parlors, and other aspects of human trafficking cases. In 2018 he joined in the creation of the East Metro Human Trafficking Task Force and has received meritorious honors from the Woodbury Police Department, the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, and the Tri-County Investigators Associations for his investigative efforts in Human trafficking.
