On behalf of the Maryland State's Attorneys' Association (MDSAA), Howard County State's Attorney Dario J. Broccolino and Assistant State's Attorney Kim Oldham presented a check for $3,500 to the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence on Monday, June 29. The donation represents the proceeds from MDSAA's Second Annual 7k Run to Remember held on Saturday, April 25 at Centennial Park in Howard County. The charity race is a prominent event in Maryland's observance of National Crime Victims' Rights Week.

The check was presented to Janet Blackburn, chair of the development committee and board member at the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence. Ms. Oldham is the founder and organizer for the race, now in its second year. Mr. Broccolino serves as vice president of the Maryland State's Attorneys' Association.

The Lanham-based Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence is a non-profit, charitable coalition that brings together victim service providers, allied professionals, and concerned individuals for the common purpose of reducing intimate partner and family violence and its harmful effects on Maryland citizens. The organization accomplishes this goal by providing education, training, resources, and advocacy to advance victim safety and abuser accountability. The funds raised from this year's race will be used for training and to raise awareness of domestic violence issues.

The Ellicott City-based Maryland State's Attorneys' Association is an advocate for the honorable and ethical administration of justice in Maryland, and provides continuing education and additional services for prosecuting attorneys and other personnel affiliated with the 24 state's attorneys' offices throughout the state.

Race organizers are already planning the 3rd Annual 7k Run to Remember, scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2016.
